Former Yankees’ and Mets’ pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre has joined the Arizona Diamondbacks as a special instructor after being turned away by the Yankees. According to the Daily News, Stottlemyre, 65, had hoped to join the Yanks in a similar capacity, but was told by GM Brian Cashman that the organization had to no position available. Says Stottlemyre, “I was a little surprised and disappointed, but I don’t have any hard feelings. I just decided I’d move on.” Hmmm, why does that sound familiar?
