The Nets have announced that Jason Kidd will miss the next two games against the Spurs and Raptors with a strained lower back. Marcus Williams will start in his stead. Kidd’s status for Sunday’s All-Star Game is up in the air.

The news comes on the heels of a report on Sunday from the Post’s Peter Vecsey that the Nets are contemplating moving Kidd and/or Vince Carter before the February 22nd trade deadline, and that the Lakers had offered “a couple first-round draft picks and several expiring contracts” in exchange for Kidd. Chris Mihm, Aaron McKie, Luke Walton, and Smush Parker were all mentioned in the report, as well as the injured Kwame Brown, whose $8 million salary would almost certainly have to be included in a deal for Kidd due to NBA trade restrictions.
