The papers are abuzz this morning with reports of the stellar impressions made by some of the Yankees young pitchers. As noted yesterday, Philip Hughes is drawing comparisons to a young Roger Clemens or Curt Schilling, while Humberto Sanchez – who grew up a Yankees fan in the South Bronx – has been showcasing his overpowering stuff as well. Says Jason Giambi of Sanchez:

He’s huge. I don’t know how you let a guy like that go. I guess when you throw 96, it’s not enough to make that ballclub. In Detroit, every player throws 100.

Says backup catcher Todd Pratt:

From the first day when we all walked in, it looked like a corral — just a bunch of horses. I’d be pretty happy if I was Mr. Cashman.
