El Duque’s Pain In the Neck

The diagnosis is in, and it turns out that Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez is afflicted with…arthritis. With all the recent attention given to the age on the Mets roster, it’s an almost comical development. Nevertheless, the Mets have to feel relieved that there is no structural damage, and Hernandez will be on his way back to spring training today. According to GM Omar Minaya, El Duque was administered a cortisone shot to the troubled area at the base of his neck, and reportedly is “feeling much better.” More in Newsday.
