Duaner Banished For a Second Day

Mets Rumors & News

The news broke yesterday that Mets Willie Randolph had banished rehabbing reliever Duaner Sánchez from training camp for a day after Sánchez was repeatedly tardy to his morning rehabilitation sessions. Via the New York Times:

As part of his recovery from off-season shoulder surgery, Sánchez begins his throwing sessions every morning at 8:15 and is watched by Randy Niemann, the organization’s rehabilitation pitching coordinator. After Sánchez arrived late a few times, Randolph admonished him on the importance of being on time. When Sánchez did not comply again Thursday, Randolph sent him back to his apartment.

Giants Running Out of Options

Giants Rumors & News

According to’s Adam Schefter, free agent running back Dominic Rhodes has reached an agreement with the Oakland Raiders on a two-year contract worth $7.5 million. You can’t blame Giants fans if they’re beginning to panic a bit, but according to the Journal News’ Ernie Palladino, fan should fear not:

Probably. Indeed, they already have by being unwilling to break the bank for someone like Thomas. But as …

Islanders Rumors & NewsRangers Rumors & News

According to Ryan Hollweg, winning two points for the Blueshirts last night was all the retribution he could ask for in response to Chris Simon’s vicious tomahawk chop to his head last night. Thankfully the NHL will ensure that the consequence of two lost points is just the tip of the iceberg.

Simon will be suspended for his gutless assault; the only question is for how long? According to ESPN’s Barry Melrose, the NHL is likely to hand out a suspension of at least 15-games, and should include a postseason ban as well.

Said Rangers forward Sean Avery, “Let’s just see if Colin Campbell finally does something about this stuff and doesn’t give him three games like he gave that other meathead from New Jersey,” in reference to the ban assessed to the Devils’ Cam Janssen for his dirty hit to the head of Toronto’s Tomas Kaberle.

In 2000, defenseman Marty McSorley took a similar two-handed chop to the head of …
