According to The Daily News‘ John Dellapina, Atlanta Thrashers’ head coach Bob Hartley is going back to goalie Kari Lehtonen for Game 3 after replacing the goalie following a shaky performance in Game 1. Veteran Johan Hedberg started Game 2 in Lehtonen’s stead and played well, turning in a 37-save effort in the loss.

Dellapina indicates that a contributing factor to the quick hook on Lehtonen after Game 1 may have been the immaturity the young goaltender exhibited when he showed up to practice the day before the start of the series with a blue-and-white mohawk – a move that Dellapina says rubbed several veterans the wrong way.

I find this extremely difficult to believe, particularly in a sport where players’ grooming habits are a part of the postseason tradition. Regardless, Dellapina wonders how this latest goalie switch will fly with the team’s veteran leadership, and whether Lehtonen will be able to rebound so quickly after getting benched a game earlier.
