Many observers thought Brady Quinn would be snatched up at No. 3, in large part due to the close relationship between former Pats coordinators Romeo Crennel (head coach of the Browns) and Charlie Weis (head coach at Notre Dame), not to mention Cleveland’s glaring need at quarterback. When the Browns instead used the No. 3 pick on Wisconsin OT Joe Thomas, Quinn proceeded to slip down the board all the way to No. 9, where it was widely assumed the Miami Dolphins would happily snatch him up. Instead the Fish shockingly and bizarrely have selected Ohio St WR Ted Ginn Jr.
It now appears as if Quinn will only continue to slip. The Texans, at No. 10, recently addressed the quarterback position by acquiring Atlanta’s Matt Schaub. San Francisco and Buffalo have already invested in young QBs Alex Smith and J.P. Losman respectively. Quinn will thus most likely drop to the St. Louis Rams at No. 13 at the very least, and could tumble all the way to Kansas City at No. 23.
