Via Mike Puma in the New York Post:
After nine straight seasons of Yankees’ supremacy in the AL East, the balance of power seems to have shifted, and [Boston slugger David] Ortiz said he can feel it.
I’ve been here five years, and we don’t need to worry about nobody right now, they need to worry about us,” said Ortiz, who had a double and an RBI yesterday. “We’re winning. We’re not worried about nothing. We just have to keep on going, keep on rolling.”
…
Ortiz was the only player in the home clubhouse yesterday to address the Yankees series directly. Others were more muted. In the same vein as Jason Varitek’s famous line to Alex Rodriguez three years ago – “We don’t throw at .260 hitters.” – maybe the Red Sox don’t discuss sub-.500 opponents.
