According to the Star-Ledger’s Rich Chere, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely that Scott Gomez will re-sign with the Devils. Gomez will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and told the Star-Ledger that there have been no negotiations with the Devils since the team’s season ended. Moreover, Gomez is 100% committed to reaching free agency and testing the open market.
While all signs point to the Devils aggressively trying to re-sign their premiere free agent, the Ledger reports that “team insiders” believe Gomez’s mind is already made up, and that the speedy center is seeking a fresh start with a new organization.
