An interesting tidbit via ESPN The Magazine’s E.J. Hradek:
It will be interesting to see how [Jason] Blake fits into the Leafs’ dressing room. Several sources on Long Island say the goal-scoring winger had worn out his welcome. With a new long-term deal in Toronto, Blake gets a fresh start.
This is the first I’ve heard that Blake wasn’t wanted on Long Island. If that was the case, one has to wonder why they didn’t dump the 40-goal scorer at the trade deadline as the Oilers did with Ryan Smyth. Instead they find themselves without a paddle and you-know-where.
