Looks like A-Rod’s strained hammy isn’t a non-issue after all. The leading vote-getter for Tuesday’s All-Star game, Rodriguez served as the Yankee DH on Wednesday, going 0-for-4 at the plate and sounding like a man in need of a break. Said A-Rod:
“I am going to sleep on it and talk to Joe to see what’s best for the team…We have to be smart about it. The worst thing we can do is [play] and make it worse. When you are playing through it, it doesn’t get better.”
Rodriguez indicated that if the injury doesn’t improve by Tuesday, he’ll be forced to withdraw from Tuesday’s All-Star game, however, the more pressing issue to the third baseman was whether or not he’d be on the field for the Bombers’ remaining four games before the break.
According to ESPN.com, A-Rod’s name is not in the starting lineup for this afternoon’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
