Leon Washington was excused from today’s practice for personal reasons. This following an absence from Friday’s afternoon session after becoming ill during the morning practice. No further information was relayed from Eric Mangini.

On the Jets’ official website, Randy Lange tells us that coach Mangini gave kudos to D’Brickashaw Ferguson today, stating that D’Brick is “one guy who had a really good off-season, did a lot of work on his own, in the weightroom and the program, with his nutrition, working with the coaches and Lomas Brown [at minicamp].”

The Jets hit for real today after yesterday’s “thud” tackling sessions. You can ask Alvin Banks if he found his helmet yet after a jarring hit from Cody Spencer.

In the 2-minute drill, Mike Nugent was wide right from 51 yards and wide left from 43. But…they were Arena League goalposts (not as wide as the NFL). I’d still like to know if they would have been good during a real NFL game.

4,000 fans watched today’s practice in sweltering heat and humidity.

Double session scheduled for tomorrow. Look for an update blog tomorrow evening.
