Yanks selling cable network? YES!

If you didn’t already know, the New York Yankees are worth alot of money. What you probably don’t know, YES, the cable network that carries the Yankees is worth even more. According to Fortune Magazine the Yankees are looking to sell the YES Network. The estimated worth of the network is 3 billion or more. The estimated worth is based on cash flow and on how other regional networks have been worth.

The YES Network (Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network) made its debut on March 19, 2002. It has claimed to be the number sports regional network in the country. It is home to the Yanks and to the NBA’s New Jersey Nets. Ownership of the network belongs to Yankee Global Enterprises, the team’s parent company, which owns 35 percent of the network. The remainder is controlled by the Goldman Sachs Group and Providence Equity Partners, and an investment group headed by former New Jersey Nets owner Ray Chambers.

Day off for the Jets

Following the longest and hottest day of training camp the New York Jets were rewarded with the first day off from camp.

Head coach Eric Mangini canceled Friday’s scheduled 2 p.m. practice . The Jets will return to Hempstead for a 2 p.m. Saturday practice open to the public.

Parking at the Jets Games

Do you think the fans have figured out that unless they have a pre-paid reserved parking pass, they are going to be shuttled into the games? And even if they have a reserved parking pass they aren’t guaranteed to park in their usual lot or the same lot every game. By the time the new stadium opens, Xanadu might be better recognized with a swear word (starting with the letter F) in front of it.

Ironically, when you go onto the Jets stadium webpage and click on the “is parking available” icon, what comes up is a bunch of scrambled computer garble. That about sums up the parking situation this season for sure!

Hottest Day of Jets Camp

Today was the hottest day of training camp with temps well into the 90’s. The NYPD Wounded Warriors visited to training camp again today. They help wounded soldiers from Iraq who are back in the states.

Mike Nugent was hot, too, nailing two 57 yarders and two 34 yarders during situational drills.
