Thomas Jones

Running back Thomas Jones injured his lower right leg during a non-contact drill yesterday afternoon. Jones moved to make a block but instead fell to the ground after planting his right foot.

As of this morning there are no reports as to the severity of the injury. Jones did return to the practice field but only to stretch and ride the bike on the sideline.

Pete Kendall

Pete Kendall continues to be a smart-aleck with the media. He was asked to play center yesterday and had this to say via Brian Lewis of the New York Post:

“I thought the organization already decided how well I played center,” said Kendall, who hadn’t played there since the last 10 games in 2005. “I have no idea what their plans are. It’s just as likely they want to look at somebody else someplace else. You’ll probably know as soon as I do.”

Sorry to inconvenience you Pete. We understand you are grossly underpaid, but………..

Eric Barton

Eric Barton was named the defensive MVP of the opening pre-season game by Coach Eric Mangini. He made four tackles during his limited playing time.

Eric had this to say about changing his style of play to better fit the 3-4 defense, via the NY Jets website:

“That’s what you have to do to be successful. There’s always more than one way to do things. You have to switch up your style and do different things, and it’s working for Jonathan [Vilma] and myself. “

My guess is he’d be willing to play anywhere the coach asks.

Monday practices

The Jets have double sessions today at 8:45am and 5:45pm. Stay tuned for an update on Thomas Jones as reports become available.
