The New York Jets are counting the hours until Sunday’s kickoff against division rival New England. This week’s practices have been spent fine-tuning the game plan and trying to keep everyone healthy.

Although currently #2 on the depth chart, Darrelle Revis might very well start on Sunday due to the uncertainty of Andre Dyson’s foot injury. Revis was very impressive in his two pre-season games, but neither was against a future hall of fame QB. Look for him to be tested early.

Thomas Jones is reportedly at about 70% but also plans to start. The question will be how effective he can be. With his health in question it is even more important that the passing game not be grounded. Fantasy hint ~ don’t play Jones this week. The slightest hint of a setback or an early lopsided score either way and Leon Washington will be in for the rest of the game. The Jets aren’t willing to risk losing Jones long term for one win.

On New England’s side, Randy Moss is still nursing an injury but expected to play. Even if Moss sees limited action the Patriots have newly acquired Donte Stallworth to catch Tom Brady’s passes. The former Philadelphia Eagle is certainly capable of beating any defense and will test the Jets’ defensive backs.

Rodney Harrison will be sitting out the first of his four game suspension and time will tell if holdout Asante Samuel is activated for the game. A decision must be made by 4pm on Saturday. Look for him to not only be activated but to also see significant playing time. Apparently he reported to camp in shape and unlike Revis, has a few years of experience under his belt and so the time missed was not as critical as it would be for a rookie trying to learn an entirely new system.

The temps will be in the upper 70’s at kickoff with just a chance of thunderstorms. Hopefully by 1pm everyone will be off the shuttles and in their seats. The shuttle system was tested during the pre-season, but never with a sold out crowd on hand. It should be interesting.
