BondsIt took four years of investigation, but today the Federal Government has indicted free agent outfielder Barry Bonds on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice.  The indictment states that Bonds lied when he told a federal grand jury he never knowingly took steroids.

“During the criminal investigation, evidence was obtained including positive tests for the presence of anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing substances for Bonds and other athletes,” the indictment read.

Bonds, baseball’s home run king, has been long linked to steroid use.  Something he has always adamantly denied, although all the classic signs of steroid use were there.

This indictment shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.  When it comes to Barry Bonds and steroids it was never a matter of “if”, but a matter of “when”.

After four years of investigation the feds have a case against Barry Bonds.  More to come as the story unfolds…
