Rodriguez denies using performance enhancing drugs

Yankees Rumors & News

“No” is the answer Alex Rodriguez gave in an interview Sunday night when asked about using steroids.

In an interview that aired Sunday night on “60 Minutes”, Rodriguez denied using illegal preformance enhancing drugs and said he felt he didn’t need them in order to compete.

“I’ve never felt overmatched on the baseball field,” he said. “… I felt that if I did my, my work as I’ve done since I was, you know, a rookie back in Seattle, I didn’t have a problem competing at any level.”

After the Mitchell Report was released on Thursday, former slugger Jose Canseco said he couldn’t believe A-Rod’s name was not on the report. Earlier this summer, Canseco in an interview with WEEI in Boston said he had “stuff” on Alex regarding steroids and plans on sharing that in his next book.

I guess we’ll have to buy Canseco’s book to find out what he has. What ever happened to commericals and good old fashioned ads to sell your product? Apparently controversy does …

Rangers Lose 5 of Last 6

Rangers Rumors & News

The New York Rangers were stomped by the Phoenix Coyotes 5-1 during Wayne Gretzky’s return to Madison Square Garden Sunday afternoon.

With Henrik Lundqvist sitting out with the flu, Stephen Valiquette got the start and gave up all five goals on 26 shots.
Joel Perrault led the Coyotes with two goals and an assist and goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 34 of 35 shots for the win.  The only Ranger’s goal, scored by Dan Girardi, came in the third period with the Rangers down 5-0.
Joining Lundqvist on the bench with the flu was forward Marcel Hossa and Ryan Hollweg was a healthy scratch.  Add Ryan Callahan’s name to players who missed Sunday’s game, Callahan was sent to the Hartford Wolf Pack apparently for a conditioning assignment.  Since his return from a knee injury on November 29 Callahan has no goals, no assists, and is minus-3.
Playing in place of these players was a pair of wingers recalled from Hartford, Nigel Dawes and Greg Moore.  Dawes was AHL player of the week last …

Inept Giants don’t look playoff-worthy

Giants Rumors & News

I usually review Giants’ games on Mondays with a ‘Kudos & Wet Willies’ segment. There will be no ‘Kudos’ today. They laid a huge egg in losing to Washington, 22-10, and get a great big team-wide ‘Wet Willie.’

Fact is, I can’t think of a single Giant who is actually deserving of a ‘Kudos’ after that putrid performance.

On a night when they could have — and should have — stamped themselves as a legitimate playoff team, the Giants only managed to raise more questions about how good they really are.

Jeremy Shockey suffered a broken leg and an ankle injury.

Brandon Jacobs? Twenty-five carries for 130 yards, sure, but he dropped at least four passes. The Giants have got to get him out of the game and get Ahmad Bradshaw on the field in passing situations.

Giants receivers? There were, by NBC’s count, 10 dropped passes. In addition to Jacobs, there was a horrible drop by Amani Toomer on a long throw that might have been a touchdown. Oh, and a bone-headed play by Sinorice Moss, making a catch …
