Super Bowl Champions!

Giants Rumors & News

Giants 17, Patriots 14

The Giants are Super Bowl Champions!

Oh my God! I am still not sure I believe what I just saw.

Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and the fantastic Giants’ defense ended New England’s pursuit of perfection Sunday with a thrilling 17-14 victory.

There can never again be any doubt whether Eli Manning can lead a team to the promised land, or whether Tom Coughlin can coach a Super Bowl winner.

Super Bowl champs! Super Bowl champs! Super Bowl champs!

I can’t believe it. And I can’t get enough of saying it.

As Commissioner Roger Goodell said “The New York Giants are once again Super Bowl champs.”

I will be back in the morning with some analysis, and the ‘Kudos & Wet Willies.’

Super Bowl champs. That has a beautiful sound.

Giants Rumors & News

Throughout the two weeks leading up to Sunday’s Super Bowl we have seen several examples of smug, assuming New England boosters already hawking 19-0 stuff.

There have been the 19-0 commemorative T-shirts. The 19-0 book. The championship parade planned by the City of Boston.

All of that is annoying to anyone outside of New England. But the latest insult has my blood boiling.

The Patriots — yes, the team itself — have applied for federal trademarks on the terms “19-0” and “19-0 — The Perfect Season.”

Now I’m angry. That means the Patriots as an organization are simply dismissing the Giants and assuming perfection.

Of course, I have always wanted the Giants to win Sunday. This kind of arrogance, though, would make a victory that much sweeter.
