dewayne.jpgWhat’s not to love about this Jets’ offseason? Just a few days after the acquisition of Kris Jenkins made DT Dewayne Robertson obsolete on the defensive line, the Jets have shipped their former fourth overall pick to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a fourth- and fifth-round pick in the ‘08 draft.

The deal is contingent on the completion of a new contract for Robertson.

Much like the recently-departed Jonathan Vilma, Robertson was never an ideal fit for Eric Mangini’s 3-4 defense, and will likely excel in Cincy’s 4-3 scheme.

JetsCentral points out that the team now holds three fourth-round picks in the upcoming draft. In recent years, Jerricho Cotchery (2004), Kerry Rhodes (2005), Brad Smith (2006) and Leon Washington (2006) were all nabbed with fourth-round selections.
