There has been buzz over the last several days concerning Gang Green’s plans for the upcoming NFL Draft and there appears to be increasing noise that the Jets hope to plug Arkansas RB Darren McFadden behind their reconfigured offensive line.
The Jets, who hold the sixth overall pick in the draft, visited with McFadden last week and view the Oakland Raiders at No. 4 overall as the most legitimate threat to snag McFadden before the Jets’ selection.
According to a report from Xtra Sports 1360 AM, the teams have had discussions about a trade that would see the Jets ship out DE Kenyon Coleman, along with the No. 6 pick, in exchange for Oakland’s fourth overall selection.
1360’s “Hacksaw” Hamilton probably isn’t the most reliable of sources, and the loss of Coleman, who led all defensive lineman in tackles last season, would present the team with another hole to fill; however it’s fun to envision a Jets backfield featuring incumbent Thomas Jones and McFadden, whom some pundits believe could have an Adrian Peterson-like impact in the NFL as a rookie. Stay tuned.
