Sorry, this headline just excites me. This picture, too.
Below follows a brief summary of today’s press conference, courtesy of the Journal News’ Mike Dougherty:
NEW YORK – The most pressing question was left unanswered when the Knicks introduced Donnie Walsh as president of basketball operations this afternoon during a Madison Square Garden news conference.
The future of embattled head coach Isiah Thomas remains up in the air.
“I need to sit down and have a meaningful basketball discussion with him,” said Walsh, 67, who grew up in the Bronx and starred at Fordham Prep. “I don’t know enough, and I want to know.”
The conversation is expected in the coming days.
Knicks owner James Dolan announced that he’s given Walsh complete autonomy to run the franchise as he sees fit. Walsh is going to report directly to Dolan, who’s vowed to provide all of the necessary resources.
“His mandate is clear,” said Dolan, who did not linger for questions. “Do whatever is necessary to turn this franchise around.”
