Zeke Leaves ‘Em Laughing
After listening to yesterday’s quotes from displaced Knicks team president Isiah Thomas, I think I now understand why Zeke still hasn’t been canned and evidently will instead twist in the wind for the team’s remaining games: Comedic value. After all, the Knicks long ago ceased entertaining fans on the court, and since a full refund to all season ticket holder seems unlikely, the least they can do is make us laugh.
How else to explain the delusional dialogue between Isiah and the news media. Some highlights below:
“When I first came on here, I didn’t see myself coaching. I’ve coached before and been successful, and I’ve been successful in other areas as well. Whatever I can do to help us win I will do.–[Donnie Walsh is] someone I’ve worked with before and someone I look forward to working with again. He’s one of the most talented executives around.”
“Basketball is a team sport, and I’ve always been a team player. I look forward to sharing the workload.â€
“At the proper time, he and I will sit down and begin talking and discussing what’s going on and discuss what the future holds…I think with any new boss, you have to sell your program. There would be some things that hopefully he’ll like, and I’m sure there will be things he wants to change.â€
“I want to be part of this organization. I definitely think I have multiple skills and whatever way I can help I’m willing to help.”
We’ll miss you, Zeke.
