The Jets have signed safety Kerry Rhodes to a five-year, $33.5 million contract extension, according to multiple sources. The agreement will make Rhodes one of the NFL’s highest paid safeties, and includes $20 million in guarantees, a sum that the Daily News’ Rich Cimini calls “stunning” for a player who has a year remaining on his rookie contract. Rhodes was due to earn $927,000 this season before hitting unrestricted free agency in 2009.
