Arod To The DL
It looks like instead of just missing “a few days” after re-injured his leg, Alex Rodriguez will join Jorge Posada on the disabled list.
Rodriguez initially injured his right quadriceps 10 days ago trying to beat out a double play. After taking a few days off he returned to the lineup re-aggravating the leg and now could miss significant time.
The Yankees have placed Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list after an MRI exam revealed a Grade 2 strain on Tuesday according to the AP. He won’t be able to return to action until May 14 when the Yankees will be in Tampa to play the Rays.
It won’t be easy replacing Rodriguez especially with Morgan Ensberg expected to get the bulk of the playing time at third in his absence. Ensberg is hitting .233 in 43 at bats this season with just one home run and three RBI’s. In contrast Rodriguez has hit .286 with four homers, 11 RBI’s, and 14 runs scored.
Rodriguez has not been on the disabled list since 2000 when he played for the Seattle Mariners.
