Here are the answers to yesterdayβs quiz.
1. Phil Rizzuto of the Yankees won the American League MVP in 1950.
2. Bud Harrelson of the Mets won the NL Gold Glove in 1971.
3. Gene Michael played for the Yankees from from 1968-β74, he was a coach on the team in β76, β78, β84-β86, β88 and β89, he managed them for parts of β81 and β82, and he was the general manager from β90-β95. He pitched in one game for the Yanks in 1968.
4. Ron Gardenhire played for the Mets from 1981-β85. Heβs been managing the Twins since 2002, and won the AL Manager of the Year award in 2004.
5. The Yankees traded Bucky Dent to Texas for Lee Mazzilli on August 8th, 1982.
6. Leo Durocher played for the Yankees (1925, β28, β29) and the Brooklyn Dodgers (β38-β41, β43, β45). He managed Brooklyn (β39-β46, β48) and the New York Giants (β48-β55).
7. Frank Crosetti played for the Yankees from 1932-β48 and coached for them from β46-β68.
8. Kevin Elster played for the Mets (1986-β92) and the Yankees (β94-β95). In 1996, he hit 24 home runs and had 99 RBIs for Texas.
9. Alvin Dark played for the New York Giants from 1950-β56, and managed the Oakland Aβs to a World Series title in 1974.
10. Frank Taveras finished his career with exactly 300 stolen bases, playing for Pittsburgh, the Mets (1979-β81) and Montreal. He led the league with 70 while playing for the Pirates in 1977.
