Going to Philly to watch a baseball game was an eye opener to say the least (actually it was a mouth opener). The stadium is absolutely amazing and I’ve been waiting ever since to hear what the story is regarding the food offerings at Citi Field next year. Thanks to the New York Times I can start salivating right… now.

It looks the folks in charge are swinging for the fences. The Shake Shack and Blue Smoke are leading off and that’s music to my taste buds.

While I’ve found the Shake Shack extremely overrated, it will be great to have this as an option. You might actually be able to go to Queens for a burger and a ballgame in less time than it takes to wait in the ridiculous lines of Madison Square Park. While I think there are better burgers in the City, this will be the best burger you’ve ever had at a stadium. The Shake Shack will also deliver in the required ballpark offering of hotdogs. Except these dogs can go to 11: mustard, relish, onions, cucumber, pickles, tomatoes, sport pepper and celery salt are standard on the Shack-Cago Dog. How about a hot caramel, toffee, chocolate chunk, and frozen custard shake? I know, I want one too. Very badly.

Blue Smoke’s presence at Citi Field enables Americans to chow delicious barbecue while watching baseball which is a constitutional right. Well it should be anyway. If you’ve never had the red-neck pleasure of eating deviled eggs and watching home runs, it is on the horizon my friends and it will be delicious.

If you find the Shake Shack’s fries lacking, Citi Field has you covered. We’ve been promised Belgian-style fries. Gone are the days when soggy potatoes are your only option at the ballpark. Now mountains of crispy, salty, twice fried frites await the seventh inning stretch and we’re not stuck with ketchup. I’m talking about mayo people. You have to trust the Belgians on this one. They invented fries… or at least they claim they did. Whatever, as long as they keep ‘em coming.

I see we’ve also been given a taqueria at Citi Field and while there aren’t any details yet, I can tell you that tacos are always a good thing. I also know that nachos are a good thing. As are quesadillas… and taquitos… with guacamole on them. I’m crossing my fingers that micheladas will be offered.

This is just the beginning my friends and a great one at that. I seriously think Citi Field is going to replace my local bar next season. If you’re looking to grab a few cold ones and shoot the breeze, I’ll be in center field stuffing my face.

That picture of the burger and fries looks disgusting. I hope they step it up a notch in the new Citi Field.

My bigger comcern with Shake Shack is the numerous health code violations they’re received in 2006 & 2007 (do not believe 2008 has been released yet). In saying that, they do make a fairly tasty burger.

Hopefully, they’ll pay a little more attention to detail at CitiField. In my experience when a good food spot goes to a stadium, the quality seems to take a dive.

Not at Citizen’s Bank Park, which has been rated the number one stadium food in the country.

WooHoo! I get to see the defending world champs in person! The offense looks extremely promising going into the year AND...AND the defense is still loaded up even after losing two DE greats. If there are any other Giants fans out there looking for last second tickets today...I got my tickets for $80 yesterday and they arrived today! http://www.esellout.com/ResultsGeneral.aspx?kwds=New+York+Giants I just love how Eli is MVP of the Super Bowl but isn't even the QB that anyone cares about in NYC right now! How great...It's actually possible for the Giants to fly under the radar again in 2008! I am not worried about the Eagles or Redskins this year but I do think the Cowboys pose a real threat as well especially with that "O"... Giants in 2008!

Where are the Yankees supposed to just find this shortstop? They don't have any in the system that are major league ready and that's not a position where you can easily pick up a guy at. I think it's a great idea to move him to center, but if it doesn't make sense then you can't do it.

The guy that should play center field for the Yankees is Jeter..and this should have happened long ago. His days as a productive ShortStop are long past. He would make a good Center Fielder... good fly ball judgment , speed to cover and a good arm. As far as Jeter moving down the lineup... this might not be a bad idea .. it may light a long needed fire under his bottom. Next years outfield could like like this .. Nady, Jeter and Abreu allowing the Yanks to search for a new and improved SS to button up the middle infield play and maybe provide some new young legs at the top of the lineup.

Agreed. Larry Bird and Michael Jordan wouldn't let it happen.

I read about Merriman he wants to get paid soon( but like you said very risky to play) and they re-signed his backup to a 5 year deal
