The Home Run Derby sucks. They really need to fix this team. They keep trying to manufacture drama in the final round, but wake up, mlb, nobody cares! Why would anyone care about a 5-3 final round when one of the contestants hit 28 in a single round? The whole thing should be cumulative, end of story. The outcome of a baseball game can sometimes be decided in the first inning, so why are we suddenly trying to manufacture late inning drama in the Derby? If it happens, it happens, but if it doesn't, the fans still got to enjoy watching the winner put on a show. In the case of last night, the format would have actually worked since Hamilton went last. Of course, once he surpassed Berkman's 8, there would have been no reason to keep swinging, but to counteract that they should make every long ball count for charity, or something along those lines. I don't have all the answers - I just know that what they've got going now isn't working. Congratulations to Josh Hamilton, winner de facto last night, and just about the greatest comeback story I've ever heard. Just amazing.
