Strong words, and I'm skeptical that McCarver didn't perhaps misquote him. In any event, we know Manny's indeed available. Meanwhile, the Post reports that <a href="http://www.nypost.com/seven/07272008/sports/yankees/moving_mann__121756.htm" rel="nofollow">the Mets have already checked in with the Sox</a> on Manny, while SI.com's Jon Heyman contradicts that report, writing that <a href="http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/jon_heyman/07/27/mets.manny/index.html" rel="nofollow">the Mets won't deal for Ramirez</a>. The Post also reports that the Phillies could emerge as a favorite to acquire Manny should any of this talk get serious (which it probably won't). If that report is accurate, I think the Mets need to keep Manny out of Philly at all costs.
