Mets-Astros Series Preview

The Mets go to Houston for a three-game weekend series starting tonight. The Astros are 50-57 and tied for fourth place in the NL Central. They just took two out of three from Cincinnati but are 4-6 in their last 10 games. They play in an amusement park with trains and hills and a flagpole in center field. There’s talk of putting a log flume ride between first and second base. The Astros have former Mets fan-favorite Ty Wigginton on their roster and also not-so-favorite Kaz Matsui. They mysteriously traded for veteran Randy Wolf―to help them with their pennant drive? Umm, sure. They also feature fun-to-watch Hunter Pence. For you older Mets fans, he’s like a modern George Theodore but with talent.
The Mets go into this series with the same roster they had yesterday, with no deadline deals being made. Of course, no trade is better than a stupid trade. They are 58-50 and in second by a game. They just can’t seem to get to …
