The New York Knicks are coming off a 23-59 season where they tied the franchise record for losses. However, former Phoenix Suns coach, Mike D’Antoni is now behind the bench. Donnie Walsh, the long time Indiana Pacer executive was hired to be in charge of player personnel. The Knicks drafted international superstar Danilo Gallinari in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft. They also signed backup point guard Chris Duhon and and traded away underachieving forward Renaldo Balkman. D’Antoni will bring his track record of regular season success and up-tempo style of offense to a team that needs to find an identity.

The Knicks released their schedule yesterday for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. They tip-off on Wednesday, October 29th against the Miami Heat at the Garden. Knicks fans will also get to see Michael Beasley, the number two overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. The Knicks will play 18 back-to-back sets and four-games-in-five-nights on three occasions. They have a tough west coast trip that starts the new year in Oklahoma City, Dallas, Houston and New Orleans. Feburary is also tough with games against the Lakers, Cavs, Celtics, Trailblazers, Warriors, Spurs, Raptors and Magic. The Knicks end their season at home against the New Jersey Nets.
