Here are the answers to yesterday’s quiz.

1. In the first game ever played at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox, 4-1, on April 18, 1923.

2. Red Sox first baseman George Burns got the first-ever hit at the Stadium.

3. There have been four All-Star games played at the Stadium, in 1939, 1960, 1977 and 2008.

4. The original center field fence was 490 feet from home plate.

5. On September 28, 1976, Muhammad Ali successfully defended his heavyweight crown by defeating Ken Norton in the only boxing match held at the “new” Stadium.

6. The New York Football Giants won one championship, in 1956, while playing at Yankee Stadium.

7. In the first game at “new” Yankee Stadium, the Yanks beat the Twins, 11-4, on April 15, 1976.

8. The New York Cosmos played in Yankee Stadium in 1971 and 1976.

9. There were 37 World Series played at the Stadium, with the Yankees winning 26 of them.

10. The three original monuments that were on the field of play were dedicated to Lou Gehrig, Miller Huggins and Babe Ruth.

      Larrly Luv, you hit the nail on the head. Great point about the defense as well. Whoever the next coach is, he better enjoy the 3-4. For those of us who never wanted Favre here, this doesn't feel like vindication...it just feels like Gang Green hitting us where it hurts, once again.
