Here are the answers to yesterday’s quiz.

1. The first World Series was played in 1903, with the Boston Americans (Red Sox) defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates, five games to three.

2. Mickey Mantle has hit the most World Series home runs, with 18.

3. The St. Louis Cardinals have won the second-most World Series titles, with 10.

4. Whitey Ford has pitched in the most World Series games (22).

5. Rollie Fingers has relieved in the most World Series games (16).

6. Pepper Martin and Paul Molitor share the highest career World Series batting average (.418).

7. Pitchers Bob Gibson and Dave McNally have each hit two World Series home runs.

8. Paul Molitor is the only player to get five hits in a World Series game. He went five for six in game one of the 1982 Series.

9. The only players to win the World Series MVP award two times are Sandy Koufax (1963 & 1965), Bob Gibson (1964 & 1967) and Reggie Jackson (1973 & 1977).
