That was disappointing. If you said before the game that the Giants would hold Brian Westbrook to 46 total yards, you’d figure the Giants would cruise to an easy win. But, of course, you’d be wrong. The Giants picked the wrong day to play one of their worst games of the year. What the hell happened? On one hand, the Giants won the Super Bowl last year so expecting them to go back to back was probably too good to be true, so it was almost like a free season (at least that’s what I’m trying to tell myself), but on the other hand, that’s a bunch of crap.
The Good
Umm, my Sundays are now free the rest of the month. Maybe I’ll take up a new hobby, or fine-tune an old one – drinking. And at least now I have time to see Tom Cruise’s big-screen version of Hogan’s Heroes (though I don’t remember Colonel Klink wearing an eye patch). The game started out well for New York, with Ahmad Bradshaw’s 65-yard kickoff return. What else was there? They got another safety. I think that’s their fourth one this season. That’s exciting. Kevin Dockery and Fred Robbins both had picks. Watching Robbins run with the ball was like getting a peek into the future, when the lightest football players will weigh 350 pounds and linemen will be up to 500. The defense really didn’t do a bad job. They only gave up one touchdown drive (the other Philly TD ‘drive’ started on the Giants’ two yard line). Brandon Jacobs rushed for 92 yards on 19 carries. The Giants should have used him even more. That was the only thing working for them.
The Bad
Eli Manning? Bad. John Carney? Bad. Stopped on fourth down twice in the fourth quarter? Bad. (Where was that great offensive line?) No touchdowns? Bad. Settling for field goals (when Carney could actually make them)? Bad. Dealing with the wind? Bad. Tom Coughlin’s desperate challenge? Bad. (When the king of challenges loses one, you know it’s a bad day.) Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg? Bad. Might as well mention that piece of genius one more time. And did I mention Eli Manning and John Carney? Just wanted to make sure.
The Ugly
See above.
And see you next year, Giants.

How ’bout them Eagles?!?!
Congratulations. An all-Pennsylvania Eagles-Steelers Super Bowl? That wouldn’t be too bad. At least the Cowboys are a disaster, so I have that to be thankful for.
After that, we could be talking the Super, or off season changes
