It’s always bad news when an athlete or coach goes on the record and rips their former team or teammates. It’s even worse when that coach was once actually semi-respected. That’s why Joe Torre’s comments from his book that were leaked this weekend about Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees were shocking.
No, not shocking like “Oh my god, I can’t believe A-Rod has someone fetch his coffee.” Rodriguez being too much of a megalomaniac and self-absorbed prick to swipe his Black card at Dunkin Donuts is not shocking. He probably has someone tie his shoes too. I was leaning towards something more to the tune of, “Hey Joe, who cares what your stupid face has to say?”
It’s bad enough that George Steinbrenner spoon-fed you 4 World Series rings, but now you have to air out old dirty Yankee laundry? Joe, you manage the DODGERS. Keep the Yankee’s name out of your mouth. Just remember your sub-.500 winning percentage with the Cardinals and be grateful you ever got the Yankee job to begin with. I never thought you would stoop down to Jose Canseco’s level and write a tell-all book. You should be managing the Diamondbacks, Joe, because you are a SNAKE. I speak on behalf of all Yankee fans who are tired of this crap when I say, “Shut your face!”

First off, I couldn’t agree with you more, you put into words every feeling I had after being bombarded with the headlines. That being said, without regard to the specifics of what he actually said, I think the main thing people are failing to bring up is how his current players may feel about it. I know if I were a Dodger, I would not be happy with the idea of my manager bringing out so much controversy against players that are my competition and I need to face during the regular season…awkward. Not only that, how could you trust your leader not to do the same thing to you? At least Jose Canseco waited until he had stepped far away from the game before he ratted out his fellow players. Joe Torre is in a class all his own.
Are you surprised? This is typical of any New York Yankee fan. Your head is so far up your own a$$es that you have no idea what is going on with the rest of Major League Baseball. When Joe Torre was walking on water for you overpaid morons, he was throwing his own family under the friggin bus. He waits til his father passes away, and then to sell books he bad mouths his father about the “tough upbringing” and the sexual abuse. So much so that his brother and sister stopped talking to him. The guy will do anything for a dollar just like ANY person that would play in Yankee Stadium. Case in point, CC Fatso would point blank said he wanted to stay on the West Coast, etc etc.. money wasn’t making the decision, he would be disrespecting Curt Flood, etc etc. Then the fat slob goes to the most money. Thing is, with taxes he will be able to buy the exact amount of hamburgers as he would have had he took less money in San Francisco. Torre isn’t the first scum bag from that team and will be far from the last.
Any Fan who would belittle a child’s battle with sexual abuse sounds significantly less than Educated.
No, I’m not surprised, like I said it was more surprising that people actually cared about this stupid insignificant crap. And for every fat overpaid ego the Yankees sign, we also have had a long tradition of classy baseball players, back in the 90’s when we had Pauly and Bernie you rarely heard about any Yankees in-fighting, fact of the matter is like the NY Giants we like to keep our internal problems INTERNAL. There are Yankee’s and Giants players getting in trouble, going to strip clubs, and etc, but unless you shoot yourself in the leg, the news rarely makes it to the papers.
You know it is said growing up in Brooklyn,NY and being a Yankee fan my whole life to witness the Dynasty of the recent day Yankees tarnished by an idiot who I admired. I was reading an article on espn web a week or so ago an this columnist said it best…..Joe Torre should be ashamed of himself for what he has done…. before he was hired as the Yankees manager at best he was a mediocre manager without a fraction of a doubt a NON HALL OF FAMER !!. He was given a team of players who would have probably florahsed under any Manager….what did he do that was so spectatcular that earns him the right to talk about A-Rod or Cash or anyone else still affiliated with the Yankee organization. Why should he feel shuned after being offered a 5 million dollar contract laden with incentives….The incentives was trying to tell him….hey why dont ya try to do something diffrent to get these guys over the hump….He complained about Boomer he complained about Randy Johnson he complained about Kevin Brown….I got news for Ya In my estimations 2 of those three are possible Hall of famers…..Take away your Yankee experiance and the generosity of The Steinbrenner family and would you be ???You should have kept your mouth shut…..Bottom line….I havent checked the scedule yet but I hope The Dodgers don’t fly into the NEW Statium any time soon we know how true Yankee fans can react !!
HOPE IT WAS WORTH IT JOE !!!!
