I’m pretty sure I never even heard of Fernando Nieve before the season started, but when he grabbed his leg crossing first base last night, I thought, “Oh no, what are the Mets going to do without Fernando Nieve?!” Never in my wildest dreams (or nightmares) did I think Gary Sheffield would be on the team, either, but he leads the Mets in home runs, and now even he’s out with a leg “cramp.” The Mets already have nine players on the disabled list, and here come some more.

Things have been bleak for a while for the Mets, but somewhere in the back of your mind you want to buy into the “Just hang in there until Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado and John Maine get back” party line, and hope they have another miracle in them. Knicks to sign Sessions?

Rumors have been flying that the Knicks could offer Milwaukee Bucks PG Ramon Sessions the NBA mid-level exception. The MLE is worth $5.8 million for the upcoming NBA season. The Bucks would have seven days to decide if they want to match restricted free agent’s offer sheet. Sessions is 23 years old and showed a hard work ethic as he played is way to the NBA through the NBDL.

In his rookie season he recorded 24 assists in the second to last game of the season. During his sophomore season he thrived as a starter averaging 15.1 points and 7.6 assists in 39 games. The Bucks selected PG Brandon Jennings in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft and showed his potential as he led the summer league with 8.2 assists per game. The franchise wants him to be the future starter which could make Sessions expendable. The team also has Luke Ridnour and Michael Redd in the backcourt. They will be making a combined $23.5 million next …
