Is Kevin Garnett still this good on defense or is Rashard Lewis just this bad?

Lewis:

Regular Season: 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 39% from 3 (Missed 10 games for testing positive for an elevated testosterone level)

First Round: 15.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 46% from 3

Conference Semis: 17 points, 5.5 rebounds, 46% from 3

Through 2 games in the conference finals Lewis is averaging 5.5 points. He is shooting 25% from the field and 11% from  three (0-6 in Game 1). KG is doing a great job guarding him on the perimeter and forcing him to take difficult shots. Lewis averaged 20.4 points last year against the Celtics in the playoffs. The only difference is KG was not on the court last year.

Vince Carter has taken shots away from Lewis this season but that should be an excuse. Last season from March 21st on he attempted 14 or more shots 17 times. So far this season over the same time period he has yet to have a game with over 13 shot attempts. Lewis needs to have a breakout game if the Magic have any chance at winning the series.

This past season Lewis was the 9th highest paid player in the league earning $18.8 million. The sad part of the contract is his salary increases the next three seasons. He signed a six-year deal worth more than $110 million in 2007.  He was an All-Star during the 05-06 season and averaged a career high 22.4 points the next season. His scoring, age and size were all factors  for the Magic to acquire him in a sign-and-trade. His scoring and three point % has decreased over the past three regular seasons. This is not the same player who once  averaged 20+ points in three straight years.

$20.5 million in 2010/2011

$22.1 million in 2011/2012

$23.7 million in 2012/2013
